Banana Chocolate Chip Bread

One of the best comfort foods is a flavorful homemade quick bread. I have seen many recipes for banana bread lately, and thought I would share my favorite recipe with everyone. This recipe for Banana Chocolate Chip Bread always gets rave reviews when I serve it to family and friends. This bread also makes a wonderful gift for anyone. I’ve made this bread for teachers, neighbors, and my church pastor. It makes a special gift for a host or hostess. Whether making this bread to give as a gift, or just to enjoy yourself, it is sure to satisfy. This bread is a hit with children too. It’s perfect for an after school treat. It is delicious served warm with a cup of coffee or a glass of cold milk. This easy recipe calls for ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen. It makes a bread that is dense, yet moist, and has the perfect balance of banana and chocolate, with a hint of maple flavor. I hope you will try this recipe and enjoy every delicious bite.


Ingredients

2 cups flour

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1 cup mashed, ripe bananas (about 2 small)

2 large eggs

1/2 cup maple syrup (pure or pancake syrup)*

1/3 cup vegetable oil

1/4 cup milk

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (regular or mini)

*I use pure maple syrup

Recipe

1. Preheat oven to 350° F.

2. In a large bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.

3. In a medium bowl, mash bananas.

4. In a separate small bowl, beat eggs. Add to mashed bananas in medium bowl.

5. Add maple syrup, oil, and milk to bananas and eggs. Stir until well blended.

6. Add wet mixture to dry mixture. Stir just until combined.

7. Fold in chocolate chips.

8. Pour mixture into a greased 9 x 5 inch baking pan.

9. Bake for 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into center of loaf comes out clean.

10. Cool in pan for 10 minutes then remove from pan.

11. Serve warm or cool completely before wrapping in foil.
